Preschool Teacher Position

Reports to: Program Director

Preferred Qualification:

  • Teaching or child care experience with early childhood/preschool children.

  • Experience with research-based preschool curricula with knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.

  • Work effectively, make decisions, and problem solve collaboratively with a team.

  • Work well with diverse families and engage parents as full partners in their child’s learning.

  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and teachers.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. Minimum of Child Development Associates preferred and required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Implement developmentally-appropriate, play-based instruction for children using research-based curriculum.

  • Conduct screening and ongoing developmental assessment of children and provide age-appropriate instructional support.

  • Meet with Program Director and Early Childhood Specialist as needed to ensure quality programming.

  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and other scheduled team program activities as requested.

  • Collaborate with team teacher in reflective team meetings, planning, and decision making.

  • Participate in home visits in order to partner with parents to meet the educational needs of their children.

  • Create and update anecdotal records and portfolios for each child.

  • Schedule and participate in parent/family activities and conferences.

  • Develop newsletters and informational materials for families and engage in ongoing, positive, and professional communication with families.
