27th Annual Golf Scramble at Leland Country Club
Raises Funds for LCC's Financial Aid Program

LELAND, Michigan – The Leelanau Children's Center (LCC) celebrated its 27th Annual Golf Scramble at the Leland Country Club, bringing together 80 dedicated golfers who all endured windy conditions for a day of fun and philanthropy. The event was a resounding success, with participants rallying together to support LCC's financial aid program, ensuring that Early Childhood Education remains affordable and accessible for all families Leelanau County.

The Annual LCC Golf Scramble, a long-standing tradition, not only showcased the community's commitment to education but also served as a vital fundraising platform for LCC's financial aid program. Through the generosity and enthusiasm of the participants, over $12,000 was raised to support families in need, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to benefit from high-quality early childhood education.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for players to indulge in delicious baked goods prepared by families, volunteers, and Community Partner Sponsors like 9 Bean Rows. These delectable treats added an extra layer of enjoyment to an already exhilarating day on the golf course and helped raise an additional $300.

Since its inception, the Leelanau Children's Center has remained steadfast in its commitment to meeting the highest quality standards, supporting diverse families, providing a comprehensive research-based early childhood curriculum, and being a responsible, engaged member of the community. LCC's program not only nurtures young minds but also guides students towards a successful start to their elementary education, ultimately impacting the trajectory of their continuing education.

In recognition of their unwavering dedication and support, special congratulations are extended to Lucy and Tim Schaub and Carol and Steve Chambers for golfing each year since the inception of the Golf Scramble. Their commitment exemplifies the spirit of community and the enduring legacy of LCC's mission.

Overall winners Chris Alpers, Aaron Calverley, Jeremy Peplinski and Tim Zywicki took home the Barb Varley Award for the 3rd time in four years.  Carol Chambers, Nancy Hunter, Mary McKisson and Lucy Schaub won the Women’s Division and Greg & Maggie Mielczarek, Sean Sweeney and Craig McConnel won the Mixed Team Division.  Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Donald Adams and Mary McKisson with Chris Touhey celebrating a hole-in-one on number 3.

The Leelanau Children's Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to The Leland Country Club staff, its Board of Directors, The Leland Lodge, all participants, sponsors, volunteers, and community members who contributed to the success of the 27th Annual Golf Scramble. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of children and families in Leelanau County.
